THE WARRIOR WITHIN | ANGUS MCINTYRE
This book was a wild ride through identity, survival, and what happens when the different parts of yourself start clocking in and out.
Karsman isn't one person. He's many, each persona stepping in when the moment calls for it. Stranded in a strip-town under siege, scavenging for survival, he's constantly negotiating control of his own mind just to get through the day.
This book has the same vibes as the I AM MAN series by Valicity Elaine, but instead of a single core, Karsman runs personas and making room for them had cost him. Memories. Learned skills. Pieces of his own identity, traded away.
"If you're scared, give me control," said Warrior's voice in his head.
"Stay out of this."
I love the banter throughout this book. The push and pull between Karsman and Warrior...
"Give," said Warrior.
"No," said Karsman.
It had me grinning every single time.

This book is really about how parts of ourselves can be clocking in overtime, or going completely silent, exactly when we need them most.
